Police Officers Under Probe After Being Bribed By Vybz Kartel’s Relative


Six police officers are currently under probe from the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) after they were caught on camera accepting money from one of Vybz Kartel’s close relative.
According to reports by the Observer, investigators from the police Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) followed one of the policemen from the Gun Court Remand Centre to the home of a close relative of the deejay where he was videotaped taking money from her.
In another incident, a video showed a police officer accepting money from a suspect in one of Kartel’s murder cases in exchange for him being allowed to visit the deejay in a restricted area of the lock-up.
The said man was later arrested and charged with murder long with the deejay.
The six police officers implicated in the incident have since being transferred pending the outcome of the investigation. They could be faced with corruption charges.
Vybz Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, has since being transferred to the Horizon Adult Remand Centre on Spanish Town Road because of the incident.
Vybz Kartel, who was arrested in Kingston 6 weeks ago, is facing a double murder charge, in addition to charges of conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of firearm.
He returns to court on December 2nd.
