Celebrities from the entertainment world, along with family members and politicians, are converging on Newark today to say goodbye to music legend Whitney Houston.
The singer's friends and family attended a private viewing Friday and are now gearing up for what could be the most talked-about funeral in New Jersey history. The funeral, taking place at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark — the city where Whitney Houston's golden voice was first discovered — is scheduled to begin at noon and last 90 minutes.
Among the mourners expected to be on hand are Houston's mother, Cissy, the singer's teenage daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, cousin Dionne Warwick and friend Clive Davis, the record producer who discovered the singer affectionately known to her Newark church congregation as "Nippy."
The funeral service is expected to include songs by such stars as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys and R. Kelly, along with speeches by celebrities and well-known clergy.
