Punishing someone who is serving a 2 year sentence in prison for simply making a phone call on their birthday, may seem a little extreme.
However, these types of things go on inside prisons all the time.
Murda Inc. rapper Ja Rule recently stood in front of a disciplinary hearing for his birthday phone call to Sirius XM's Candy Mornings Show on Hip Hop Nation, which the prison deemed "unauthorized".
Ja Rules's publicist Melanie Bonvicino also stated that his interview with the New York Daily News, further infuriated prison officials, because he discussed his current relationship with other inmates and how they view him.
"That sort of created this issue with the powers that be at the facility because after that, they refused all interviews for him."
Ja Rule must complete a seven day work detail as punishment for his unauthorized phone use.
