NEWS: Rihanna Considering Ditching Music For Movies

After conquering the world of music, Rihanna sets her eyes on Hollywood.

The Bajan pop beauty was in Australia last week promoting her debut film, Battleship. RiRi plays a navy weapons specialist in the budget buster film, battling an alien invasion at sea.

The “We Found Love” singer had so much fun filming the movie that she is considering taking up acting full time.

“There are some festivals here and there throughout the year but I want to do some more films before I go back on tour,” Rihanna told the Sydney Daily Telegraph.

After her action flick debut, Rihanna hopes to do some comedies.

“I don’t want to stick to one thing yet,” she said. “I want to see where I excel. I want to try things – comedy and probably another action film.”

Rihanna is also looking to play Whitney Houston in a rumored biopic.

Rihanna touched down in Tokyo, Japan last night to promote her upcoming movie “Battleship.” Seemingly bored in her hotel room, RiRi shared some pics of the view and even kissed her blonde locks goodbye and changed up her hair color!! Check out the pics below…

MOVIE WATCH REMINDER: " BATTLESHIP"

Battleship is an upcoming 2012 American science fiction naval war film based on the classic children's game by Hasbro, the samecompany that made Transformers. The film was directed by Peter Berg and will be released by Universal Pictures. The film stars Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgård, Brooklyn Decker, Rihanna, and Liam Neeson.

The film was originally planned to be released in 2011, but was rescheduled to May 18, 2012

In the Hawaiian Islands, an international naval fleet at Pearl Harbor engage in a dynamic and intense battle against an alien species known as "The Regents". The aliens come to planet Earth on a mission to build a power source in the ocean. Upon their visit, they come in contact with the naval fleet. The film is also purported to show both sides of the story, from the aliens' perspective, as well as the humans' so the audience knows exactly where the opponent's ships are

NEWS: RIHANNA TALKS ABOUT BATTLESHIP

Earlier this week, Rihanna talked to the press about Battleship, her first acting role, in London. She plays Petty Officer Raikes — a weapons specialist who gets a thrill from firing heavy artillery. And the singer admitted she enjoyed working with guns almost as much as her character. Rihanna said:

“The one on the boat was so powerful, on the ribs, every time, ugh, I remember. I would come back to the set with black gunpowder everywhere — it was crazy. But it was so much fun. I loved it, every moment. I loved feeling it in my chest.”

Rihanna has history with the military. She joined the army cadets as a youngster in Barbados — and not because of the boys.

“I just wanted to join an organisation. I didn’t want to be at school for school work, that was boring. Everything else was kind of not my thing, so I joined the cadets. They had weapons. I wasn’t into boys then.”

Rihanna has worn some pretty uncomfortable outfits on stage during her career, so her Navy clobber in the movie provided some light relief.

“I thoroughly enjoyed it. I really did. It felt good to not have to think about what to wear. Every day was the exact same thing. It was really comfortable.”

But Rihanna’s appearance in the sci-fi movie — which is out on April 11 in the UK and also stars Liam Neeson — has not been without its drawbacks.  Since making the film, Rihanna doesn’t feel quite as confident that aliens don’t exist.

“Now I don’t know what to believe, but I’m not worried about it, you know? People are so concerned with the unknown, it’s hilarious. I mean, whatever is to be will be. And what can we do if they do exist and they do decide to invade earth? We will just know when we get to it.”

The Bajan star insists she will never give up pop to concentrate on becoming an actress full-time because music still “makes the world go round”. But she hasn’t ruled out starring in a comedy film in the future.

“I want to do comedy, maybe a romantic comedy. I want to try being more vulnerable, but I want to try different things. I don’t want to stick to one type of role.”
