GUINNESS WORLD RECORD: Meet The World’s Shortest Man!

72-year-old Chandra Bahadur Dangi has officially been named “World’s Shortest Man.” Not only is Dangi the shortest living man, he is also Guinness’ shortest man in record history. Dangi stands at 21.5 inches (54.6 centimeters) and said that he can’t wait to see the world. Check out pics of him below.

A 72-year-old Nepalese man who is about the size of a toddler on Sunday became the world’s shortest person ever recorded.

A doctor and Guinness World Records official measured Chandra Bahadur Dangi to confirm his height of 21.5 inches (54.6 centimeters).

Guinness official Craig Glenday presented Dangi with two certificates for being the world’s shortest living man and the world’s shortest person recorded in Guinness’ 57-year history.

“I am very happy. Now I want to travel across Nepal and to foreign countries,” Dangi told reporters afterward.

He said he has no desire to get married or have a family of his own, but would like to meet the prime minister of Nepal soon.

Dangi lives in a remote mountain village, Rhimkholi, about 250 miles (400 kilometers) west of Katmandu, with his youngest brother and his family. His five brothers are all average height.

Before being measured in the capital, Katmandu, on Saturday, he had never seen a doctor and his relatives say he has never been seriously ill or had any injuries. The doctors who saw him at the clinic also found no immediate health problems. His family is not sure when he stopped growing.

Because of his height, he has never worked outside the house, doing only household chores.

He has a normal sized head and regularly shaves, but his body is small. He is able to walk and climb small stairs. He eats mainly rice and vegetables, and occasionally meat, but in small portions.

Dangi takes the shortest man record from Junrey Balawing of the Philippines, who is 23.5 inches (60 centimeters) tall. He also beat the record of Gul Mohammed of India as the shortest adult human to have their height verified by Guinness. Mohammed, who died in 1997, was 22.5 inches (57 centimeters) tall.

Since Dangi’s village is so remote, it was only recently that Dangi gained notice. A forest contractor cutting timber in the village met him and told local media.

Another Nepalese man, Khagendra Thapa Magar, was declared the world’s shortest man at 26.4 inches (67 centimeters) before Balawing took over the title in June on his 18th birthday.

In December, Guinness recognized an Indian teenager as the world’s shortest woman. Jyoti Amge is 24.7 inches (62.8 centimeters) tall and wants to attend university and become a Bollywood star.

Aside from a Guinness certificate, the titles don’t come with any cash award.

INDUSTRY TALK: How to Start Off Your Music Career with a BANG!

 [/caption] I've produced and helped alot of independent artists for the past few years. Some of them have received critical acclaim, radio play and even financial success while others remained in obscurity. The reasons for this disparity are varied, however, there is one thing which we all know for sure: marketing methods for artists in 2012 are way different to what they were 5 years ago. In order to have a successful impact with your first single release, there are a few things I believe that you need to do. I won't go into the conventional, outdated methods because, let's face it, times are changing than a Usain Bolt sprint these days. These are some of the tings I suggest for artists releasing music in this present era:

• Choosing the right beats. Understand what type of artist you want to be and thus the market you want to capture. Choose beats that not only suit you as an artist, but also embody the prevailing trends of a "hit" in your chosen genre. Personally, I would suggest using a beat that is a bit on the cutting edge of the popular style, since people these days are always looking for something familiar, yet fresh and new. Buying beats online is the best option for shopping around, as there are plenty of websites to suit most styles.

• Give your single away for free download. If you don't already have an established and paying fan base, then upload your song (we're assuming it's blazing hot and people will want to have it) to sites like Mediafire or Hulkshare and start tweeting and plus-one-ing and facebooking your download link like crazy. Don't spam people though, make it tasteful and not excessive. Giving away something for free is a sure way to garner interest, build your fan base and give people an incentive to actually buy when you do have something for sale.

• Go viral. Get an affordable HD camera (if you are a do-it-yourself-er) and shoot and edit a simple but clean and impressive video for your single, otherwise find an affordable video guy and get him to do it. Upload that thing to youtube and get to sharing. Signing up to active communities such as ThisIs50 can help you as you share your video and try to get its views up. People like to listen but in this era, connecting with your fans visually is priceless!

• Spend money to make money. It's an old adage but it's still relevant. Shell out a little cash for some hosting and a domain name and put up a simple Wordpress site to showcase or even sell your music. Or simply sign up on Bandcamp. Then the next thing to do would be to buy some banner advertising and place it in high traffic areas, such as online forums where your target market would congregate. Make sure your videos contain your web links as well. This rule also applies to beats. Don't just seek out free beats, spend the extra couple dollars to buy the tagless beat lease or even the exclusive rights. This speaks to how serious you take yourself and in turn, the universe and the people in it will take you just as seriously.

Ok that was a mouthful but I thought it was needed. The key here is to take yourself and your music career seriously. Turn a hobby into an income generator. I did and so can you.

BREAKING NEWS: Reggae Artist Pressure Shot And Injured

ST. THOMAS - As the sun was setting and families were heading home about 6:30 p.m. Friday, gunfire erupted between Buildings 11 and 12 of Paul M. Pearson Gardens housing community, leaving music promoter Shamal Smith, 24, dead, and wounding St. Thomas reggae artist Delyno "Pressure" Brown and a 33-year-old acquaintance.
By 10:30 p.m. Friday, Pressure, 30, was home with his mother and father, trying to promote a new album over the phone with a fresh, single gunshot wound through his right hip.
"The bullet went straight through," said Pressure's father, Irvin "Brownie" Brown.
While Brownie was on the phone, Pressure told him to mention his latest feature, which has not been released yet and still lacks a title, he said.
Pressure, who lives in Florida and arrived Monday with a scheduled flight home Sunday, was set to perform tonight at Pilgrim's Terrace, Brownie said.
The show is scheduled for 10 p.m. with headliner Lady Saw, Pressure Buss Pipe, Selecta Avalanche and After Dark Empire.
Because of Smith's death, it is unclear whether the show will go on or whether Pressure will take the stage, Brownie said.
Friday night, Brownie said Pressure recalled the moments before the shooting, sitting with Smith and discussing tonight's show, which sold advanced tickets for $35.
The second surviving victim, who is Pressure's friend and a fellow musician, suffered gunshot wounds to the chest, police said.
Friday afternoon, Brownie first learned of the shooting with a phone call from his daughter in Texas, he said.
"I flew out of my house and went to the hospital," he said. "I saw the crowd up there.
"The police stopped me, and they told me they believed he was going to be all right," Brownie said.
Pressure ran to the home of a relative who lives in the housing community, Brownie said, and the relative helped him hitch a ride to Schneider Hospital on a safari taxi.
At 8:30 p.m., a police officer escorted a body to the Schneider Hospital morgue, according to police information.
When the rapid gunfire rang out, children ran from the scene, according to police information.
Three male suspects fled the scene, and one of the suspects pulled his shirt over his face while slinging a rifle, according to police information.
Police initiated a search from Paul M. Pearson Gardens housing community to Oswald Harris Court housing community.
No arrests were made by 11 p.m., said St. Thomas-St. John Police Chief Rodney Querrard Sr.
Querrard said the crime scene was crowded when police arrived because of the time of day.
"We had a lot of families getting home from work," Querrard said. "It was just before dark."
Querrard said he could not disclose how many spent shell casings were found at the scene.
Upon initial inspection, no cars bore bullet holes at the scene Friday afternoon, Querrard said.
The investigation is ongoing, and Querrard said police understand some of the crowd that formed after the shooting may already have been at the scene during the shooting.
"There were a lot of people in the area," Querrard said. "We're requesting any information from the community - anything that they saw. No matter how unimportant they believe the information is, please contact us.

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: Vybz Kartel Not Happy About Popcaan Not Visiting Him In Jail

Popcaan, who recently revealed that he has not visited his boss and mentor Vybz Kartel since his incarceration last year, may not be the Worl’Boss favourite person at the moment.

An inside source told Urban Islandz that Vybz is not pleased about the fact that the Gaza prefect not showing up at his current residence at the remand center.

“Him bigger things to focus on now such like getting bail and the trial, but he isn’t happy about a number of close associate not visiting him since being in jail,” the source disclosed, requesting anonymity.
“Teacha understand everyone have them career and other businesses to take care of, but still him feel like certain people abandon him because of the situation. A man can come and offer to help with any outstanding business or even just show some support,” the source added without specifically calling out Popcaan.

Vybz Kartel was arrested in September of last year and is currently facing a slew of charges including two for murder and one for gun possession.
He has already secured a $3 million bail for one of his murder charge.

Popcaan has joined forces with American rap superstar, Snoop Dogg for a new Reggae-themed single which will soon be released
Breakthrough Dancehall superstar, Popcaan continues to add to his international resume as he’s reportedly landed another collaboration with a prominent American rapper.
On February 17, Popcaan released the official remix of his number one hit, Only Man She Want, which featured internationally acclaimed Jamaican-American rapper, Busta Rhymes.

The song, which was unveiled via iTunes, has also earned over 50,000 YouTube views since its debut nearly two weeks ago; earning the Portmore Empire deejay strong acclaim locally and overseas.
Now, media reports have confirmed that Popcaan has joined forces with veteran hip-hop superstar, Snoop Dogg, who’s currently in Jamaica recording material for his upcoming studio album, Reincarnated as well as filming a documentary about the Rastafari Movement in Jamaica.
According to reports, the self-proclaimed ‘Gaza Prefect’ recorded a Reggae song alongside Snoop Dogg after the two artistes met at Geejam Studios in Portland.

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: Aidonia gets engaged – Proposed to girlfriend on the weekend

Weeks after it was made public that dancehall artiste Mavado got married, another entertainer, Sheldon ‘Aidonia’ Lawrence, is seeking to trod a similar path by getting engaged to his girlfriend whose name is yet to be disclosed.
Sources close to the entertainer have confirmed that the engagement is official, but also expressed that the couple is not yet ready to go public with details of the engagement.
Since last weekend, social-networking sites have been blowing up with news of the surprise engagement.
Aidonia’s JOP team member Deablo also confirmed the engagement when he took to twitter to congratulate the JOP boss on his engagement.
“Congratulations to @AIDONIAJOP and @princessmegan1 on their engagement!!!!!! Welcome to the club lol,” he tweeted.
The STAR made several attempts to get Aidonia to comment on the engagement. However, none was forthcoming.
Aidonia recently returned from his European tour where he performed at 18 different shows. Among some of the countries he toured were Italy, Sweden, Switzerland and Austria.
The artiste also released a new single called La La Land, produced by Black Spyda Records. The single is currently getting major rotation on local radio stations.

Cops Want To Question Rick Ross About Man Murdered In Front Of His Miami Home

Police want to talk to rapper Rick Ross about a murder that took place in front of hisMiami Gardens home this morning.

According to TMZ, a 40-year old man was gunned down and found lying inside a gate at the home.

Ross was not at home at the time and is not considered a suspect, but police don't know what connection the man has to his camp so they would like to speak with him.

The funny thing as well is that “The Motto” knocked his other single “Make Me Proud” featuring Nicki Minaj off the #1 spot, which is now #2 on the chart. The last artist to do this was Alicia Keys back in 2008 with “Like You’ll Never See Me Again” succeeding her “No One” single.

NEWS: Birdman Plans To Drop 16 Albums Under YMCMB For The Year

This feels overly ambitious but at the rate they’re signing people…it just may be possible. From Christina Milian to Limp Bizkit to Mystikal to Busta Rhymes…YMCMB has acquired a handful of new artists over a variety of different genres just this year alone. And we’re only 2 months in! While speaking to XXL, the Cash Money CEO revealed he plans on putting out projects from 16 of their artists this year. Insane! Details below.

Baby’s ambition is clear: the flamboyant Cash Money CEO wants to release 16 albums under the YMCMB umbrella within the first six months of this year.

After recently explaining to XXLMag.com how the deal with Fred Durst’s 1990s rock-rap band, Limp Bizkit, came about, Birdman tells XXLMag.com there are still other acts from genres other than rap that he and Slim are interested in scooping up to further expand the roster.

“I think bringing Fred and Limp Bizkit to the team gives us a different look,” Birdman says. “We dominate rap, but we’re also trying to grow in different areas; Pop, rock, gospel, country.”

Of course, Cash Money will always be hip-hop heavy with headlining acts such as Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Drake, but Baby wants to dominate in other areas as well.

“We’re a brand and we don’t want to be categorized as one type of brand,” Stunna continued. “I think we’re a machine and we activate and were active as a machine. I thought this Limp Bizkit move would be big for us as a brand and a machine.”

Birdman revealed to XXLMag.com that Limp’s first single will feature Lil Wayne and comes out next week.

Already, there’s a rash of artists under the YMCMB umbrella with music on the way. Bow Wow’s, Underrated, LP and Lil Twist’s, Don’t Get It Twisted drop a week apart on March 13 and March 20, respectively, while Nicki Minaj’s, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded is slated for April 3. New albums from Busta Rhymes and Mystikal—also new YMCMB signees—have summer release dates as well.

NEWS: Sean Kingston -- I'm NOT Afraid to Ride Jet Skis Again

It's only been 9 months since Sean Kingston crashed and nearly died in a jet ski accident in Miami ... but the "Beautiful Girls" singer says he ABSOLUTELY will ride again.

Kingston was out in L.A. yesterday ... where he just bought a new house ... when we asked about rumors that he moved out West because he was mentally scarred from the jet ski incident and couldn't live around the Atlantic Ocean.

In case you forgot ... Kingston spent some serious time in the intensive care unit of a Florida hospital following the May crash ... in which he suffered a broken jaw and water in the lungs.

Now that he's recovered ... Sean tells us he's not afraid to get back in the water ... he's just waiting for the right moment.

NEWS: RIHANNA TALKS ABOUT BATTLESHIP

Earlier this week, Rihanna talked to the press about Battleship, her first acting role, in London. She plays Petty Officer Raikes — a weapons specialist who gets a thrill from firing heavy artillery. And the singer admitted she enjoyed working with guns almost as much as her character. Rihanna said:

“The one on the boat was so powerful, on the ribs, every time, ugh, I remember. I would come back to the set with black gunpowder everywhere — it was crazy. But it was so much fun. I loved it, every moment. I loved feeling it in my chest.”

Rihanna has history with the military. She joined the army cadets as a youngster in Barbados — and not because of the boys.

“I just wanted to join an organisation. I didn’t want to be at school for school work, that was boring. Everything else was kind of not my thing, so I joined the cadets. They had weapons. I wasn’t into boys then.”

Rihanna has worn some pretty uncomfortable outfits on stage during her career, so her Navy clobber in the movie provided some light relief.

“I thoroughly enjoyed it. I really did. It felt good to not have to think about what to wear. Every day was the exact same thing. It was really comfortable.”

But Rihanna’s appearance in the sci-fi movie — which is out on April 11 in the UK and also stars Liam Neeson — has not been without its drawbacks.  Since making the film, Rihanna doesn’t feel quite as confident that aliens don’t exist.

“Now I don’t know what to believe, but I’m not worried about it, you know? People are so concerned with the unknown, it’s hilarious. I mean, whatever is to be will be. And what can we do if they do exist and they do decide to invade earth? We will just know when we get to it.”

The Bajan star insists she will never give up pop to concentrate on becoming an actress full-time because music still “makes the world go round”. But she hasn’t ruled out starring in a comedy film in the future.

“I want to do comedy, maybe a romantic comedy. I want to try being more vulnerable, but I want to try different things. I don’t want to stick to one type of role.”
